Laura Ramirez Tlapa
Biography
Laura Ramírez Tlapa is part of the Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) team as Community Engagement Manager for Region 1. She is a strong advocate for sexual and reproductive justice, education, and healthcare access in marginalized communities. As a Mexican immigrant woman in the United States, she understands the challenges faced by Latino and other minority communities in accessing health services. Before joining PPGNY, Laura worked with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Birth Justice Defenders Consultant, coordinated the Applied Global Public Health Initiative at New York University in Querétaro, Mexico, and served as Clinical Research Coordinator for the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service (IHCD) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
