Biography

Sara Calderon, Peruvian by birth. She has a Bachelor’s in psychology and training in Systemic Therapy. She graduated as a promotora at Esperanza Community Housing. Currently Sara volunteers for the American Red Cross and serves as a Community Outreach Coordinator for the Community Engagement program at the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute (SC-CTSI) of USC. In her role as a Community Outreach Coordinator, Sara works directly with communities surrounding USC and CHLA. She provides resources to underserved communities and empowers them to be more conscious of their health. Her educational workshops help to remove the barriers that many communities face in deciding whether to participate in a research study by promoting health and scientific literacy among Latino communities.
