Biography

Alejandra Portillo is a bicultural community-based researcher, program evaluator, and wellness practitioner, with a certification in yoga, mindfulness, and social emotional learning. As a former foster youth and first-generation college graduate, Alejandra is keenly aware of the importance of wellness practices for healing, restoring, and embodying authenticity and justice. Recently, her work has involved integrating embodiment practices such as mindfulness and yoga into her evaluation and community-based research. Her evaluation work focuses on making data accessible and culturally relevant for community members and nonprofit leaders, working alongside families, youth, and children to elevate the impact of social sector programs and initiatives. Alejandra earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Cultural Anthropology and a minor in Raza Studies from San Francisco State University, and holds a Master of Education and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Jose State University.
