Biography

Angélica (she/ella/her) is the Director of Community Engagement at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY), where she leads sexual and reproductive health education programs for adults in NYC and Nassau County. A certified Health Educator with over 15 years of experience, she specializes in disease prevention and health promotion among marginalized populations, especially Latinx immigrants. She has developed culturally and linguistically appropriate initiatives for Latina and African American communities and has worked with community organizations and advocacy campaigns at the state and national levels. Angélica was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and arrived in the U.S. at 16 years old. She holds Master’s Degrees from Columbia University and Adelphi University. She has received recognition for her work, including the North Hempstead Women’s Honor Roll, Health Care Heroes from LI Business News, and Coors Light Líderes. She is a soccer fan, an animal lover, and enjoys cooking vegan dishes.
