Taking Care of My Heart and My Community
In this workshop, promotoras and promotores will address the eight essential elements for cardiovascular health and metabolic syndrome, conditions that affect the heart, kidneys, liver, and brain. This is relevant for promotoras as it strengthens their role in community prevention. We will use simple language, practical examples, and data on psychosocial stress and social determinants. Participants will learn to interpret key health numbers and will take away tools to promote healthy changes and replicate knowledge in their communities.
Understand how high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) affect organs.
- Reinforce the importance of healthy habits (nutrition, physical activity, stress management) for maintaining good health and quality of life.
- Encourage active participation, the exchange of experiences, and motivation for promotoras to promote sustainable healthy habits.
