Biography

Maribel Hernández is a Community Outreach Specialist at the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (CEDD) at UC Davis MIND Institute and has collaborated with the Center since 2013. Maribel provides resources, support, and education to families, ensuring that these are culturally and linguistically appropriate. Among her multiple functions, Maribel facilitates the parent group “Vamos a Platicar” (Let’s Talk), a six-week series conducted entirely in Spanish for parents of children with disabilities. Maribel is Co-Founder and Collaboration Coordinator of Latina California, a network of agencies in California that offers services, support, and resources to the Hispanic community. The goal is to inform and provide tools for families to participate actively and create a culture of collaboration. She is also Founder and Coordinator of the annual Spanish-language MIND Institute Conference “Aprendiendo Juntos” (Learning Together). Maribel is the mother of two adults living with autism.
