Maria de Lourdes Romero

Maria de Lourdes Romero (Lulú) is a Lead Promotora, Shelter Advocate, and Empowered Self-Defense Instructor/Coordinator. A mother of five, Lulú’s path to community leadership began in 2018, when she learned about ELAWC’s Promotoras program. At that time, she was a busy mother who was already an active volunteer at her children’s school and in her community, motivated by a desire to help others. In 2022, Lulú earned her certification as a Level 1 Empowered Self-Defense Instructor with ESD Global, Inc., and is currently working toward her Level 3 certification, which will qualify her as a mentor and coordinator in Empowered Self-Defense.
