Biography

Azucena López de Nava began her role as a Promotora in 2011 as a volunteer at DELAC School District meetings. Her passion for advocating and serving the community led her to work for the past 5 years as a Promotora Coordinator at Chula Vista Community Collaborative, a nonprofit organization, supporting 5 family resource centers with community outreach, workshops, and health presentations. Azucena has been involved in projects that raise awareness about depression and emotional behavior. She has been certified by the Institute of Psychiatry in Mexico City as a facilitator of the workshop “Is It Difficult to Be a Woman?” for Hispanic women and certified as a Thanatologist by the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Azucena López de Nava was the first Community Health Worker in San Diego County, and is currently working in the Mental Health Department.
