Biography
Dr. Ángela Gallegos-Castillo is an educator, facilitator, and community worker with over 40 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her work has focused on community health and development, social justice, youth development, and the implementation of healing and wellness practices. She firmly believes in personal and community transformation through authentic relationships and trust-based collaborations.
She has worked on multiple community and governmental initiatives in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationally, addressing inequities in health, education, and justice through a community engagement approach. Currently, she serves in several key roles:
- Director of Communication and Fundraising at Instituto Familiar de la Raza
- Nonprofit Organizations Consultant
- Community Advisor at the University of California, San Francisco
- Ethnic Studies Professor at UC Berkeley
Dr. Gallegos-Castillo is also the co-founder of Soul Speaks/Llamado del Alma, a spiritual retreat process for women that integrates ancestral and contemporary healing practices. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural (Mexican/American), she is passionate about working with immigrant and diverse communities. She resides in Berkeley, California, with her family.
