Promotoras and CHWs in Action: Building Trust and Supporting Health Enrollment
In this workshop, promotoras and promotores will take part in guided discussions, small-group reflection, and a real-world health enrollment scenario. They will share experiences, identify common barriers, and practice using community health worker/promotora (CHW/P) skills such as trust-building, outreach, advocacy, and follow-up. These activities will encourage participation by connecting the content to their daily work, allowing them to learn from one another, and giving them practical strategies they can immediately apply in their communities.
- Identify the key CHW/P skills used to build trust and support community members.
- Explain the role of CHW/Ps as trusted partners who help people access health coverage and services.
- Demonstrate how to guide a community member through the health enrollment process, including identifying needs, sharing resources, and planning follow-up.
