Inclusive Sexual Education for Young People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
In this workshop, promotoras and promotores will explore how youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) face barriers to sexual health education and are at greater risk of abuse, isolation, and misinformation. We will examine how comprehensive, inclusive education can promote autonomy, safety, and confidence for learners with IDD. Using Planned Parenthood’s Equal Voices program, we’ll highlight effective strategies to support diverse needs. Participants will gain practical skills to deliver accessible, affirming sexual health education and create safer, more inclusive learning environments for all.
- Identify systemic barriers that youth and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities face in accessing comprehensive sexual health.
