Evaluating Health Information on Social Media
Have you ever heard health advice on social media? The health information we see on social media is not always reliable. In this workshop promotoras and promotores will learn to identify health information based on evidence; recognize warning signs of misleading content; and develop tools to make informed decisions about their health and that of their families. Through real examples and conversations, we will explore how to verify information sources and navigate social media with greater confidence.
- Identify signals of reliable and unreliable health information in health posts shared on social media.
- Apply basic strategies to verify health information, including reviewing sources, authors, and the evidence that supports the claims.
- Understand how algorithms work and recognize the language used on social media.
