Genetics and Colorectal Cancer
In this workshop promotoras and promotores will learn fundamental concepts related to cancer genetics, inheritance, and risk. It will introduce and teach genetic terms, principles, and concepts in the context of colorectal cancer. It will also highlight how to recognize relevant family history of cancer that may affect a person’s health. Promotoras will be able to apply what they learn in their communities and better guide conversations about cancer risk and family history.
- Define three important genetic concepts and explain how these concepts can affect the family.
- Describe how genetics influences the development of cancer.
- Identify patterns of hereditary cancers and when someone should seek genetic counseling.
