The presentation will help lead the discussion regarding the importance of ensuring that CHWs hired by clinics have “el corazon” necessary to be advocates for patients.

Objectives:

  1. Promotores will be able to integrate methodologies shared by panelists to acquire the skills required to work in a clinical setting and will obtain best practices in applying for jobs in healthcare.
  2. Attendees will gain an understanding of the current political climate surrounding promotores/CHWs, including the controversy regarding certification and the work being done both at the federal and state level to integrate promotores into the health field.
  3. Promotores will identify success factors for CHW program sustainability at health centers while also learning best practices in maintaining the values of the promotor program while working in a clinical care team.
