Let’s Have a Coffee and Learn How to Talk to Our Children About the Use of Marijuana, Fentanyl, and Vaping
In this workshop promotores will learn how to organize informal and informed talks in their community in a warm and trusting environment where parents and caregivers share their experiences and learn about the effect of substances on the brain, different types of substances, signs of use, and how to monitor and talk to youth.
Objectives
- Understand the risk to mental and physical health caused by substance use and will recognize the signs in young people.
- Learn techniques for monitoring and initiating conversations with youth about the use of psychoactive substances.
- Learn about the “cafecito” as a way to educate parents and caregivers about substance use or other topics of interest in their community.
